PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Pier facility with passenger terminal serving 12,000t roll-on roll-off ferry service from Scrabster to Kirkwall. Pier also provides berthing for vessels up to 50,000t.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Design of main marine civil works including; rock armour approach causeway, steel piling, reinforced concrete flat slab deck, steel wave screens, services. Also providing technical support to the Contractor.

- Rock armour to causeway – 27,000 t
- Concrete deck and pile infill – 16,000 m³
- Steel wave screens – 1,500 t
- Rock fill to causeway – 60,000 t

KEY FEATURES
Tubular steel piling with vertical and raked, anchored piles support a reinforced concrete flat slab deck and steel wave screens. Access to the marine deck is via a 200m rock armoured causeway.
