Wallace Stone have been working on the detailed design of a strategic new deep water berth at Stornoway Harbour, which will help drive economic growth, not just in the town itself, but in the Western Isles as a whole. Specifically, it will provide berthing for cruise ships, dedicated freight ferries (freeing up capacity on hard-pressed passenger ferries, especially during peak tourist season), and other cargo vessels (oil tankers, ships carrying renewable energy components). It will also enhance facilities for engineering fabrication and decommissioning and will provide an alternative berth for the lifeline ferry service in the case of damage to the existing piers.
Construction is currently well underway with Contractor, McLaughlin and Harvey Ltd, undertaking the works on site. Wallace Stone have a full time site supervision and project manager role during these construction works.
