PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Widening and deepening of busy entrance channel to the major fishing port in the Highlands. Drilling and blasting of rock, excavation and dumping at sea of mixed rock and soft material. Installation of new navigation aids.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Design of dredge parameters and navigation aids, project management, control and monitoring of noise and vibration, maintaining harbour access, protecting marine mammals.

PRINCIPAL ELEMENTS

  • Rock drilling and blasting - 10,000 m²
  • Excavation and dumping of rock and soft material - 20,000 m³
  • 3 channel marker poles, 1 entrance sector beacon

KEY FEATURES

Project completed ahead of schedule and within budget. Close co-operation with harbour users and local residents to minimise disruption.
